Sentimental Journey

July 5, 2024

The warbird world has always been an ever-evolving landscape. There are always a handful of aircraft for sale, events changing, and tour announcements that keep enthusiasts on their toes. This year, CAF Airbase Arizona surprised many enthusiasts with an expansive East Coast tour that took them from El Paso, Texas and Savannah, Georgia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Gatineau, Ontario.

One of the stops along the way was in Binghamton, New York. Only a quick three hours away, I decided to make the trip up on Friday afternoon to tour the aircraft and photograph a few ride flights. While others were lined up along the airport fence to watch the Blue Angels and F-35s practice their displays for the Greater Binghamton Airshow, myself an a few others made our way to the B-17. What started as a quick photo trip turned into a fantastic afternoon while meeting some of the amazing crew and volunteers and being put to work pulling a few of props through on the engines.
